Weekly Speaker Program

June 25, 2018: RCMP Constable Daniel Martin, Airdrie detachment.     Airdrie RCMP webpage

Today’s program featured Canada Day. Our guest speaker, Constable Dan Martin, was introduced by Lorenda Stefan.

Dan gave us a rendition of his career path from being an agriculture graduate out of Southern Manitoba to being an RCMP officer who had the opportunity to serve Portage La Prairie, Nunavut, NWT, Cambridge Bay, Iqualuit, Ottawa and, finally, Airdrie, where he serves as both media resource officer and emergency response director.

He explained what his life and duties entailed and what experiences he has encountered. He fielded many questions and provided an eloquent presentation on such topics as: shoe polish on his boots, response times, training at the RCMP school, staffing and capacity, legalization of marijuana, body cams, gender balance and gender issues, family life as an officer, and difficult situations he has had to face as part of his work and life-work balance.

Marvin Pawlivsky thanked our speaker and presented him with our world famous Boltman.
