Our Christmas meeting started off with a lunch of soup and sandwiches. The tables were decorated with centerpieces, tiny poinsettias, and Christmas crackers. Our only guest was Joyce who Vivian invited. We all took part in a game rhyming Christmas songs. Next we had the present exchange. Each person was to bring a gift, and everyone chose the one they wanted. This was followed by rounds of passing the gifts to others at the table, and ended with final swaps. "Mad Minutes" Bill Fitzsimmons thanked everyone for their contributions to Doorway, our charity du jour in our Christmas days of caring. Deb Macmillan stated that she and Orlin will host a fireside chat on Sunday Jan 8 at 2pm. President Linda told us all of her childhood Christmases, in which "Jap" oranges were the special treat, and a box would last a family of 5 for the whole holiday. There were no stockings, only a plate of candy. Next meeting is Jan 9. January is Vocational Service month. A raffle was held for several prizes. President Linda won the basket she had donated, so another draw chose David Impey as the winner. Pat Fitzsimmons won the Paperwhite flowers. All proceeds of the raffle went to Doorway, a total of $105. President Linda ended with meeting by urging us to rejoice in the spirit of Christmas - peace, love and hope.
