June 24, 2019: Induction of new member Max Britos Saadat Keshavjee provided an excellent overview of the responsibilities of a Rotarian.
After two downturns in the O and G industry, Max, a former engineer with Schlumberger in Brazil, decided to change careers and is now a financial advisor with RBC wealth management.
June 17, 2019: Induction of new member Tyler Blaney was led by DG Dan Doherty, who had the whole club stand and pledge a commitment to work with Tyler and empower him in his endeavours to serve humanity.

March 11, 2019: New members Bill Dowhaluk, Peter Josty, Brook Bayou, and Barbara Hames were inducted and introduced to the club. Sa'adat Keshavjee gave the charge.

After the pinning ceremony, Darren Grierson was also on hand to welcome the new members and to tell them about mentors. Darren then asked each new member to introduce himself or herself.
Bill Dowhaluk came from Portage la Prairie but has resided in Calgary for many years and is now retired from oil and gas production and engineering. He has a wife and three children. He has been involved with Inclusion Alberta (workplace opportunities for the developmentally disabled) as a board member.
Peter Josty transferred his membership to Calgary West Rotary Club from the Calgary Olympic Club where he is a past president. He has a wife, Norma, and two grandkids. He likes camping, hiking, mountaineering and other outdoor pursuits. He worked for Northern Chemical until 2003. He started his Rotary membership in Sarnia, Ontario.
Brook Bayou is an instructor at Calgary Catholic Immigration Society and IT support specialist. He was previously a member of the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Bole, Ethiopia. He was also a Rotaractor. He has just been in Calgary for 1&frac1/2 years and is married to Selamawit Temanu.
Barbara Hames is passionate about service and is actively volunteering. She recited the 4H Motto for us!

Sharon Fraiman was born in Israel. She came to Canada 4½ years ago. She was a special education teacher in Israel for 25 years. She also worked for the Ministry of Education and won an award for her work. She also wrote the curriculum for these students. Sharon has two young adult children. Presently, she is the Western Region Coordinator for CMDA, Canadian Magen David Adcom. She arranges humanitarian action for relief efforts all over the world. She will be a member of team 3, and her mentor will be Debbie McMillan. Welcome Sharon!

John Bossuyt lives in Cochrane and runs a small not-for-profit organization called Humanity's Promise Association International. Through this organization, John works every day providing agricultural training to people in the South Sudan. John has access to 900 acres of river property in the South Sudan where he is planning to develop an agricultural school and an experimental farm. Expect to hear more about this!
David Stephan has heard about Rotary but never considered joining. He has a background in volunteerism, primarily as a sports coach and has been living in Calgary most of his life, although he was born in Saskatchewan. David is late of Shell, and has been developing a new career in the coaching area. When introduced to Rotary, he thought it would be a way to meet new people and give back to the community.

August 13, 2018: New members Linda Anderson and Richard Dahl were inducted into Rotary International by our own District Governor Dan Doherty, and Rotarian David Wartman was welcomed into our club. Dan asked each of the new candidates to provide their reason and passion for wanting to join Rotary.

May 28, 2018: Orlin McMillan introduced Lorenda Stefan and Carla Tureski to be inducted into Rotary. Carla and Lorenda were welcomed into Rotary by Gail Williams, who personally "pinned" the new Rotarians. They were greeted by all with a standing ovation

Lorenda Stefan was born and raised in Calgary and was encouraged to join Rotary by Jane Audet, our current Assistant District Governor. She is a mother of four, and works with "Pure Source", a long-established health products company. She is also active in the YMCA, Canadian Health Food Association and Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Lorenda's sponsor and mentor is Darren Grierson.
Carla Tureski moved to Calgary with her husband, Nick. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Whitehorse. She was an "Adventures in Citizenship" student to Ottawa and a Rotary Exchange student to South Africa. She works at ATCO as their Indigenous Relations Coordinator. Carla's sponsor is Orlin McMillan. Her mentor is yet to be chosen.
