A special highlight was a beautiful Christmas carol performed in a native language by Club member Elizabeth Dop and her friend Marta, making the morning a warm and memorable start to the holiday season.

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the Rotary Club of Calgary West gathered with family and friends for our cherished annual Christmas Brunch at the beautiful Pinebrook Golf and Country Club, continuing a Club tradition that has delighted members for over 20 years.

Under the thoughtful planning of our Social Committee—Linda Anderson, Barbie Hames, Debbie McMillan, and Philippa Gear—the room was filled with joyful fellowship, delicious food, and festive cheer. Guests dined on a sumptuous roast turkey buffet with all the holiday trimmings—from fresh-baked dinner rolls, breakfast pastries, Eggs Benedict, and prawn penne, to a delightful dessert buffet including sticky toffee pudding and fresh fruit.

A highlight of the brunch was a cleverly crafted interactive game designed by the Committee. Each table chose a lead participant to open one of several Christmas gift boxes, each containing a surprise: answering festive trivia questions, performing a favourite carol re-imagined with Rotary-themed lyrics, or finding a sweet treat inside. The laughter and camaraderie that ensued made this activity a memorable part of the celebration.

The spirit of the season was lifted even higher when Club member Elizabeth Dop and her friend Marta took the stage to perform a beautiful Christmas carol in their native language. Their heartfelt performance was a magical moment that enchanted everyone present and added a unique cultural touch to our celebration.

With warm conversations, festive fun, and the joy of being together before the holidays, this year’s Pinebrook Christmas Brunch was another wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community within our Rotary family.
