Story
Members of the Rotary Club of Calgary West recently traded busy schedules for fresh air, birdsong, and the peaceful beauty of nature during a special guided walk at Carburn Park. Organized following a presentation from Nature Calgary, the outing gave members an opportunity to connect with each other while exploring one of Calgary’s most scenic urban natural areas.
Led by experienced volunteers from Nature Calgary, participants enjoyed a relaxed walk along the park’s flat, natural trails, taking in the sights and sounds of spring along the Bow River. The group observed local wildlife, discussed native plants and ecosystems, and learned more about the environmental importance of urban green spaces.
The walk offered more than just exercise — it created space for conversation, reflection, and appreciation of Calgary’s natural beauty. Members enjoyed reconnecting with nature and with one another in a setting far removed from the pace of everyday life.
Carburn Park, known for its ponds, pathways, wetlands, and abundant wildlife habitat, proved to be the perfect location for the outing. The event highlighted the value of community partnerships and the importance of promoting wellness, environmental stewardship, and outdoor recreation.
A sincere thank you goes to the volunteers and organizers from Nature Calgary for sharing their time, expertise, and enthusiasm, and to everyone who participated in making the morning both enjoyable and memorable.
