On Oct 31, 2025, the Rotary Club of Calgary West visited the Children’s Cottage Society from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Club members and guests were divided into two groups and toured the facility, guided by Rae Fehr (Director of Development) and Lisa Congo (Director of Crisis Support Programs). The visit provided insight into CCS’s mission to support children and families through crisis, early-years programming, and family supports — aligning closely with our Club’s values of service and community support.

On Friday, October 31, 2025, the Rotary Club of Calgary West arranged a meaningful visit from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to the Children’s Cottage Society in Calgary. A number of Club members, along with several invited guests, gathered for a morning of engagement and learning.

Upon arrival, the group was split into two smaller teams to ensure a more intimate and interactive visit. Each group was guided through the facility by two of CCS’s senior staff: Rae Fehr, Director of Development, and Lisa Congo, Director of Crisis Support Programs. Rae and Lisa provided in-depth insights into the operations, programs and support services offered by CCS, helping our members understand how the organisation works to support children, families and our community.

During the tours, the members learned about CCS’s core belief that “asking for help is a sign of strength, and no family should struggle alone.”  They visited the Crisis Nursery, the Child & Family Centre and reviewed programming such as early years support, home visitation, family resource network and mental health & wellness services.  They also explored CCS’s unique service, Hope’s Cradle, Calgary’s only infant safe-surrender site.

The morning concluded with our members sharing reflections on how Rotary’s community service and the work of Children’s Cottage intersect—especially in providing safe, supportive environments where families can turn challenges into possibility. The visit reinforced our Club’s commitment to supporting partners who bolster resilience in children and families.
