When Stephen’s Backpacks creates a home for a vulnerable family, we get as many details as we can about the family so the home can be personalized. (Colors Mom might like, favorite super heroes for kids bedding, etc.) This adds a warm touch that makes it more like home. We purchase everything from the ground up… We will also be working with Community Links in Airdrie. The allocation of these funds will be towards the home furnishings and contents. The family we supported with your funds was a family devastated in a fire in Airdrie. Her next-door neighbour had left his BBQ going and fallen asleep. It leveled both duplexes. It was a single Mom and four children. We provided everything she would need to start up a new home for her and her children. She moved to Calgary and because of your support she was able to set up her home quickly and return to her job and move forward. If the support had not been there, she would have moved to a shelter and taken a lot longer to get on her feet. This was so hard for her children losing all their treasured belongings but having a new home-made life a lot easier for this great family.
