The Rotary Club of Calgary West joined 10 other Calgary Rotary Clubs in supporting HomeSpace Society’s renovation projects at Crescent Heights and Cliff Bungalow affordable housing buildings. Rotary funding helped complete more than $163,000 in critical upgrades, including parking lot reconstruction, door and window replacements, flooring, painting, drainage improvements, fencing, and safety enhancements. The renovations improve safety, comfort, and dignity for vulnerable Calgarians living in supportive housing.
Rotary Clubs Help Transform Affordable Housing Through HomeSpace Renovations
A collaborative effort by Rotary Clubs across Calgary is helping create safer, more welcoming homes for some of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
Through a collective contribution supporting HomeSpace Society, 11 Calgary Rotary Clubs — including The Rotary Club of Calgary West — helped fund major renovations and capital improvements at two affordable housing properties: Crescent Heights and Cliff Bungalow.
The project was originally envisioned as a way to improve living conditions for approximately 80 residents through meaningful upgrades to aging buildings. Thanks to the generosity of Rotary members and District Grant support, HomeSpace successfully completed more than $163,000 in renovations and improvements.
At Crescent Heights, improvements included repaving and repainting the parking lot, replacing fences and front steps, installing electrical plug-ins, repairing leaking windows, and replacing unit entrance doors, hardware, and frames. Common areas were also refreshed with new flooring and paint, creating a brighter and more dignified living environment for residents.
At Cliff Bungalow, renovations focused on long-term safety and infrastructure improvements. Crews removed deteriorating asphalt and wooden parking barriers, regraded and repaved the parking lot, installed new drainage systems, and added durable metal barriers and fresh line painting.

The two buildings serve individuals facing housing insecurity and other challenges through partnerships with organizations such as Trellis Society and the Calgary Dream Centre, which provide supportive programming and wrap-around services.
This project demonstrates the powerful impact that collaboration can have when community organizations work together to support affordable housing initiatives in Calgary. Beyond bricks and mortar, these renovations help restore dignity, stability, and hope for residents building a better future.
