Bishop Carroll Chamber Ensemble Strings

String Group Performance

Dec. 15, 2025 12:00 p.m.

The Strings program at Bishop Carroll High School is an award-winning music initiative offering four orchestral string ensembles (violin, viola, cello, double bass), designed to span from beginner to pre-professional levels:

  • Ensemble Eruditio (Beginner Strings)
  • Ensemble Intermezzo (Intermediate)
  • Cantabile Strings (Advanced/flowing style)
  • Virtuosi Strings (High-level, highly skilled)

Key highlights of the program include:

  • Rehearsals occur three hours per week during the school day.
  • School instruments are available to rent.
  • Students with prior experience may audition in early September for placement in the higher-level ensembles.
  • All ensembles participate in several major concerts each year, including Christmas and Spring concerts, and the annual “String Fling” in February.
  • The program is enriched by visits from clinicians affiliated with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mount Royal University Conservatory.
  • Remarkably, students can earn up to 30 high-school credits through participation in this Strings program.

Rob Roach

Economic Forecast 2026

As the Deputy Chief Economist at ATB Financial, Rob is laser-focused on the Alberta economy,
the forces that shape it and the challenges and opportunities affecting the prosperity of
Albertans. He is the co-author of three books: "The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada From
Economic Decline," "Spiders in Space: Successfully Adapting to Unwanted Change," and
"Spiders in COVID Space: Adapting During and After the Pandemic." As Vice-President of
Research with the Canada West Foundation, Rob had the opportunity to explore a broad array
of economic and public policy topics. Rob recently served as the Chair of the National
accessArts Centre--Canada's largest and oldest disability arts organization. Rob also teaches
courses on local government for the University of Alberta.

Craig Button

Leadership & Sport

Jan. 12, 2026 12:00 p.m.

Born in Rochester, New York, Button entered the world of hockey at birth. His father, Jack Button, was an executive with the Rochester Americans, and his mother, Bridget, was the secretary to long-time Toronto Maple Leafs' General Manager and Head Coach and Hockey Hall of Fame member George "Punch" Imlach. Jack held executive positions at the American Hockey League before embarking on an extensive career as an NHL executive. Button's brother Tod was an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals and is currently the Director of Scouting with the Calgary Flames. The Button family moved to Montreal in 1975 when Jack was hired by NHL President Clarence Campbell to institute and manage the NHL Central Scouting Bureau. Button served as the head coach of the Israeli Under-18 Junior hockey team.[1] Button graduated from Riverdale High School in Pierrefonds, Quebec in 1980 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Concordia University, Montreal, in 1987.[2][3]

Craig is an annual speaker at the "SMWW Hockey Career Conference" for the online sports-career training school Sports Management Worldwide, founded and run by Dr. Lynn Lashbrook.

He has 30 years of experience as a communications and public relations professional across government, non-profit, health care, and emergency services. His career includes roles as a public relations manager with STARS Air Ambulance, a communications strategist with The City of Calgary EMS, and a regional manager with Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Before joining Habitat, Cam worked as a senior policy and communications analyst with the Government of Yukon’s Department of Health and Social Services, focusing on seniors and affordable housing initiatives.

Before joining Solar YYC, Drake spent nearly a decade at Benevity, one of Canada’s few tech unicorns, where he helped scale programs that connected global companies with causes and communities worldwide. That experience in SaaS, relationship management, and corporate social impact shaped his approach to partnership-building—rooted in long-term value, transparency, and community outcomes.

Today, Drake applies that same mindset to Alberta’s renewable energy sector, helping organizations and homeowners realize energy savings and environmental goals through reliable, high-quality installations. Based in Calgary, he remains passionate about local impact—ensuring every partnership supports meaningful progress toward a more resilient Alberta.
